A Tempest Brewing
There is a tempest brewing herewithin my mind today,
the world's against me don't you see
the signs to me convey;
For where i look, the signs do say
the sky is black this day,
i closed the door, the window cracked,
graffiti there did say:
"A fag lives here" was written
upon the door in paint,
to tell the world my secret sin
I guess it is my fate;
I went to work repeating
some bitter melody,
got there and found a problem,
they blamed it all on me;
So after coffee, I did ask
the Spirit what's this for?
Why everything's against me,
why graffiti on my door?
He said we see the very stuff
we never want to see,
what we would hide from we ourselves
is what comes back to me;
The mind is quite deceitful
and this you must admit,
it says that you're the problem
and that you're a pile of shit;
Then buries it where you don't see,
so you can smell so sweet,
and others that do walk about,
tis them, yes they do reek;
It's all a game the mind does play,
to eat and have it's cake,
it wants the good just for itself,
but fears others will take;
So it plays "steal from Peter"
to keep for its own self,
because it lives in poverty
cut off from All -the Self;
You think that you're a sinner,
You then just hide from Love,
You think that God will get you,
for some punishment above;
But Love wants to enwrap you,
instead in its soft arms,
your mother's love embraces,
for you are her own sweet charms;
Then Spirit smiled and hugged me,
as Moms are apt to do,
and told me to just see the world
anew instead of blue;
The mind has made a box for us
to keep us small inside,
of values and of judgments made
in prejudice denied;
So question every value,
and every judgment made,
especially those you think are "true"
for earth is one charade.
And those that write graffiti,
bless them for helping you:
to free yourself from idols,
and forgive them who feel blue.
My tempest is a cauldron,
inside a cup of tea,
so small and insignificant,
yet all that I can see,
For I am blinded by the waves,
the turmoil in a cup,
why not give up this war of fear,
and drink the tea right up.
