The RFP
An RFP is quite the doc,It tells of what our souls do want,
What we should do, where we should go,
How they should help, ourselves to grow.
The words we pick, are chosen well,
To push our problems out as well,
So at the end, once they do fail,
It will be us, to tell the tail.
The point you see, is finding blame,
Outside of us, in one of them,
So we are clean and they are not,
And we will live, and they will rot.
The things we can not manage well,
These complex, circumvented wells,
Of details, deep and dark as hell,
We'll skip right over them as well,
These problems to the bidders take,
And ours to give, make no mistake,
Our job is but to dish it out;
Their job is but to work it out.
The play is opening tonight,
The house sold out, the stories right,
Each actor knows their lines so well,
We are well paid, to work in hell.
The crowd is lining up outside,
The truth the curtain keeps to hide,
The energy excitement mount
As music starts, the lights dim out,
The actors' entrance now is made,
The lines begin, it's all insane,
For each does play the game of guilt,
And hides their face in masks of silt.
Each bidder makes a play for me,
To pick the best for harmony,
They give their lines, they lie, cajole,
They offer up their very soul
To win the prize, the pot of gold.
And we the mighty me defined,
Will play as God, decide the crime,
Who'll win, who'll loose, who'll give their soul
So we can blame and meet our goal.
The loosers, they will all be blamed,
By their big bosses, it's all the same,
And though the winner, may well be,
Today he wins, but he's not free,
For we will get him when he fails,
The last scene ends, when he is flailed.
So stand with me, give heart's applause,
For all the actors thus involved,
The script is acted out so well,
We can go home, we're not in hell.
What is an RFP?
a document that is part of a purchasing & contracting process, often used in Government Organizations in order to facilitate "transparency" policies, and to provide a defence against bad press (newspaper articles which are less than favorable to the organization).Having authored many RFP's as part of my job, this little poem came after the last one I was involved with.
